Having a good relationship with your IT service provider is one of the secrets of a successful IT system. Both parties should have a clear understanding of their roles and the business goals. Doing so ensures fast and efficient resolutions should problems with each party arise. The provider must provide regular detailed reports and reviews, and in turn, you have to take time reviewing these reports and understanding the content. Raise questions if you have to and express your concerns about it.

Moreover, you have to listen to suggestions, especially when there is a need to upgrade or update the system which requires purchasing of new equipment or installations. You don’t have to give the approval right away. The supplier has the responsibility to provide you accurate information about these upgrades and make sure that you understand them all before making a call. Most importantly, always comply with what’s written on the contract you have both signed.
